The electric version of the Genesis G80 sedan has already passed a number of certification tests in Korea and may be presented this fall. Writes about this Korean Car Blog with reference to departmental documents. At the same time, it was previously reported that the first Genesis with an electric drive will be a compact cross-coupe.
- Several test specimens of the electric sedan (as expected, it will receive the designation G80e) are assembled and taken out for testing. Their final stage is scheduled for the fourth quarter of this year, and the Genesis G80e may appear on sale in early 2022.
- The technical characteristics of the future novelty have not yet been announced. Earlier it was reported that the sedan's batteries will allow it to travel up to 500 kilometers on a single charge. Such a car will weigh 2,640 kilograms, which is about half a ton more than the mass of the flagship GV80 crossover.
- Based on spy photos of prototypes, the publication concludes that there will be few external differences between the electric version of the sedan and conventional cars with internal combustion engines. First of all, this is a blank radiator grill, special rims and the absence of exhaust pipes.
Genesis is working on another electric vehicle - a cross-coupe, which will be based on the platform already used on the Ioniq 5 and KiEV6 SUVs. His debut, according to preliminary data, should take place earlier - in August this year.
