As part of the presentation on future innovations, the head of Xiaomi, Lei Jun, spoke about the prospects for the corporation to enter the automotive market. It will still take place, and Xiaomi has already built one car. True, this project is more likely from the field of tuning and the company does not intend to replicate it.

• The car shown by the head of the company is a "smart" mobile home, which Xiaomi has built for the sake of experiment. The main task of the project was the integration of mobile solutions for the "smart home" provided by the Xiaomi ecosystem into the interior of the camper.
• It took Xiaomi specialists three months to develop a mobile home built for one of the company's fans. Its design includes almost all devices available in the company's assortment for "smart homes", from a coffee maker to a media system. Judging by the photo, the camper is built on the basis of a minibus from the Maxus family of the SAIC corporation, although previously Xiaomi was called the Great Wall as one of the possible partners.

• As Lei Jun said, he never expected that the first car of his company would be a RV. At the same time, Xiaomi, in his person, officially announced not only its intention to enter the electric car market, but also that work in this direction is already underway. According to Jun, he received support for this idea on several occasions: his colleagues stated that "an electric car is like a smartphone, with only four doors and on wheels," and since Xiaomi has all the necessary competencies, it would be worth the company to capture a part of this market.
• Since January of this year, the corporation's top managers have held more than 200 consultation meetings with experts in the automotive industry. In addition, two large boards of directors were held to discuss expansion prospects. As a result, Xiaomi decided to create a subsidiary company, which will be entrusted with the development of its own electric car. Investments at the first stage will amount to about one and a half billion dollars with a subsequent increase to 10 billion.
• As a result, Xiaomi expects to get an electric car, which, thanks to integrated network solutions, will also become part of the proprietary ecosystem - it includes the so-called “Internet of Things” and intelligent assistants. At the same time, no technical characteristics of the future electric car have yet been made public.
