Volkswagen has published the first images of the model it is preparing for Europe. The novelty will be something between a hatchback and a crossover and will be called Taigo. It will be built on the basis of the affordable VW Nivus cross-coupe, originally developed for Brazil.
- Volkswagen Taigo will play in the European compact car segment. There are no technical details yet: the cross-coupe is planned to be equipped with "economical turbo engines" and many driver's assistants.
- In addition, the novelty is promised an emotional design, LED optics as standard and a "fully digital interior". On the Brazilian VW Nivus, the latter is implemented, among other things, due to the latest VW Play media system, also developed by the local Volkswagen division. Whether it will be used in the European Taigo or it will receive the MIB 3 system, traditional for the local market, is not yet specified.
- Volkswagen Nivus shares a platform with the Latin American version of the VW Polo hatchback and is equipped with a liter "turbo-triple". The motor is capable of developing from 116 to 128 hp. and works in tandem with a six-speed "automatic". Nivus has no all-wheel drive.
- It should be reincarnated into the European Taigo cross-coupe by the middle of this year. The premiere of the all-terrain vehicle is scheduled for summer, and serial production will be launched by the end of the year. The novelty is planned to be produced at the Volkswagen plant in Pamplona, Spain.
