  • On January 1, the driver of the Chevrolet Silverado decided to cross the Slave River in a pickup truck in the north of the Canadian province of Alberta. However, I did not take into account that in recent years the water level in the river has risen significantly, and the ice has become unstable. As a result, the pickup got into a ravine and sank almost completely, but the driver managed to get out onto a hard surface.
  • It was the instability of the ice that became the main problem during the rescue of the car. Big Ice Services had to additionally freeze the ice along the route from shore to the location of the pickup and around it to ensure the safety of people and equipment. The depth of the river in this place was about 10 meters.
  • To extract the car, they used a portal frame built around it with lifting cables on blocks and powerful chain saws: the pickup was literally cut out of river ice. It is difficult to judge what condition the car is in at the moment, since the owner will have to defrost the car for a long time, only jammed sides are visible in the photo. Although the company has released photos of the process only now, the rescue operation ended on February 26. Thus, Silverado spent almost two months in the ice.
  • One of the residents of the Russian Primorye, after the freezing rain fell on the region, used a real hammer to save his Land Cruiser Prado SUV from the ice captivity. On the published video, you can see how he beats ice with a hammer not only from the body panels, but also from the head optics.
