The demand for new cars of premium and luxury brands in February 2021 slowed down growth: 11,100 cars were registered in February, just 0.7% more than a year earlier. Their share in the total volume of new cars even decreased slightly - to 9.9% (minus 1.1 points). We have compiled a rating of the 10 most popular premium models of the month.

The second consecutive record growth was recorded for the BMW X6: crossover sales increased 2.5 times, to 593 vehicles. In addition, "X-Six" became the sales record holder for two months - both in the top 10 and among the 50 most popular models in general: plus 154.3%, 1.1 thousand cars.

The worst dynamics in the top 10 February was marked by another coupe-like crossover - BMW X4, the demand for which fell by 16.7% (290 units). The strongest drop in January-February was registered for the same model: minus 24.4%, 497 cars.

Among the most popular models outside the top ten was a competitor to the BMW X6 - the Mercedes-Benz GLE in a coupe: the demand for it grew by 155% in a month and by 141% in 2 months. But in absolute terms, Mercedes is noticeably lagging behind: 274 and 424 cars, respectively.

Lexus ES (plus 159%, 127 units in February and plus 99.3%, 271 units in 2 months), BMW 6 Series GT (plus 151.3%, 98 units and plus 130%, 202 units), Cadillac XT5 (plus 120%, 101 units and plus 113%, 143 units) and Audi A6 (plus 78%, 196 units and plus 77%, 379 units).

The decline was marked by Audi Q5 (minus 54%, 132 units and minus 35%, 363 units) and Q7 (minus 34%, 192 units and minus 30%, 359 units), as well as BMW X7 (minus 27%, 260 pcs. And minus 16%, 536 pcs.).

For 2 months, 30 luxury cars were registered (minus 61%): Aston Martin DBX (1 unit), Bentley Bentayg (3 units), Continental (3 units) and Flying Spur (5 units), Ferrari GTC4Lusso (1), Lamborghini Huracan (1), Rolls-Royce Cullinan (9), Ghost (2) and Wraith (5).

The main demand (74 percent) in the segment of expensive cars falls on crossovers and SUVs: 15.6 thousand units were registered in 2 months (plus 5.7%). Their share increased by 2.9 points over the year.

In just 2 months, 21.1 thousand new premium and luxury cars were registered in Russia, which is 1.5% more than a year earlier. The share increased by 0.4 points to 10.1%. In general, the Russian market of new passenger cars during this time sank by 3%, to 208.7 thousand units.
