621 Power And 3.4 Seconds To A Hundred: Alpina Showed Its Version Of The BMW 8 Series Sedan

The German studio Alpin has presented the technical characteristics of the sports sedan B8 Gran Coupe, built on the basis of the BMW M850i ​​Gran Coupe. The four-door has been refined the engine, suspension and interior, but the BMW M8 is still more powerful and dynamic.

• The 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 is boosted from 530 hp. and 750 Nm to 621 hp. and 800 Nm. The eight-speed "automatic" changed the control program, and a limited-slip differential appeared in the transmission. Alpin's Eight can reach 100 km / h in 3.4 seconds: 0.2 seconds slower than the sedan in the 625-horsepower M8 Competition version (and half a second faster than the M850i ​​version). However, in terms of maximum speed, thanks to the remote limiter, the sedan from Alpin surpasses the Bavarian cars - 324 km / h against 305.

• The engineers from Buchloe modified the chassis of the Gran Coupe with adaptive shock absorbers, reinforced anti-roll bars and hydraulic front struts. In addition, the tuners taught the rear wheels of the sedan to turn when necessary by 2.3 degrees, and the stock brakes were replaced with Brembo components.
• The AlpinB8 Gran Coupe can be distinguished from the donor by a front bumper with Alpina lettering, a rear diffuser, four custom exhaust tips and original 21-inch wheels. A dashboard with branded graphics, numerous logos and an unusual regulator of the iDrive system appeared in the cabin - it is made of glass, and the pattern is applied to it with a laser.

• In the list of available equipment, in addition to finishing with expensive grades of leather and wood, four-zone climate control, Harman / Kardon acoustics with 16 speakers, a panoramic sunroof and Alcantara on the ceiling are mentioned.

• Sales of new items have already started, the first copies will be delivered to customers by the end of spring. In Germany, the AlpinB8 Gran Coupe is priced at 161 thousand euros, which is about 6 thousand cheaper than the factory "emka", but in the USA the situation is the opposite - 139 900 dollars against 130 thousand. In the future, according to a similar scheme, Alpin will develop the two-door versions of the BMW 8 Series - a coupe and a convertible.
• In May last year, the studio equipped its own version of the large BMW X7 with a similar 621-horsepower engine. The crossover overclocked to a hundred also turned out to be half a second faster than the donor.
