Mecum Auctions sold a very rare 1967 Chevrolet Corvette. A sports car from a series of only 20 copies became the most expensive lot of the auction - 2.45 million dollars or almost 182 million rubles were paid for it.

  • The value of the two-door is explained not only by its belonging to the limited edition L88 with more powerful motors, but also by its condition. Since the completion of the restoration process, which lasted for 10 years, the car has traveled only about 550 kilometers.

  • She has completely identical identification numbers and has many certificates confirming the condition. The original engine was also preserved - the Corvette L88 Coupe had a 430-horsepower V8, prepared for racing. On special fuel, the engine output reached 560 hp.
  • However, this is the only limited edition car that has received the Sunfire Yellow color. It is believed that about half of the L88 survived, and only three of the cars still have their own engine. But the yellow two-door did not become the most expensive among the L88 copies: in 2014, a similar coupe was sold for $ 3.85 million.
  • At the beginning of this year, the Plymouth Cud440 muscle car went under the hammer for almost a million dollars. As in the case of the sold Corvette, its value is attributed to both the rarity (one of 12 produced) and the condition, which was judged to be almost perfect.
