Auction house Mecum is organizing a sale of a part of the car collection of the famous American racer Parnelli Jones, a member of two dozen different-sized Motorsport Halls of Fame. Among other things, a unique Ford Bronco will be put up for sale - a buggy named Big Oly, which auctioneers call the most famous Bronco on the planet.

- The racing prototype was built with some borrowing from the production Ford Bronco of the early 70s, but was based on a tubular frame, and the body panels for it were made of fiberglass and aluminum, turning the roof into a kind of wing. In addition, the Big Oly (named after its title sponsor Olympia) was rear-wheel drive.
- The buggy was equipped with a 5.7-liter V8 Windsor, developing 390 hp. On this car, Parnelli Jones and Bill Stropp twice, in 1971 and 1972, won the famous Baj1000 rally-raid (and in the first year even ahead of motorcyclists) and a number of less protracted races, including, for example, the Baj500 and the Mint 400. However, according to The auctioneers believe Big Oly is not just about winning - the prototype "forever changed the way we design and build for off-road racing."
- All this time, Big Oly was considered part of Parnelli Jones's personal car collection and left his apartment, by and large, only to participate in thematic exhibitions. What amount is planned to be bailed out for a unique SUV is not specified. Bidding for cars from the collection of the famous racer will be held in Indianapolis from May 14 to 22.

American tuning studio Saleen is already ready to modify modern Ford Bronco in the Big Oly style: the program was announced the day after the premiere of the SUV. The Bronco will receive a new look and a redesigned chassis.
