Engineering firm Silk EV and the Chinese concern FAW, which includes the premium brand Hongqi, have announced the start of a joint project. The result will be the appearance in Italy of an enterprise for the production of a series of luxury supercars, and it will be based in the Emilia-Romagna region - that is, next to the headquarters of Ferrari and Lamborghini.

  • What models will make up the range of the new enterprise has not yet been specified. However, the vice president of the new joint venture for design, the famous stylist Walter de Silva has already praised the external merits of the Hongqi S9 supercar, presented back in 2019 at the Frankfurt Motor Show. Silva is also involved in fine-tuning the design of the coupe before the start of mass production. In addition, the Hongqi S will be a full line of models with both hybrid and all-electric powertrains in the official announcement.

  • In August 2020, it became known that the Chinese authorities had approved the small-scale production of the Hongqi S9, but the place of its assembly was not reported. The supercar is equipped with a 4.0-liter supercharged petrol V8 in combination with an electric motor, which together develop more than 1400 hp. The powerful powertrain and carbon fiber body allow the coupe to accelerate to 100 km / h in 1.9 seconds.
  • The Hongqi S9 has been named the most expensive production car in Chinese history. Its estimated cost is 10 million yuan, or about 110 million rubles.
