Video: Import Of Right-hand Drive Cars Will Be Banned From July 1

From July 1, 2020, a number of important innovations will begin to operate for Russian motorists, the TASS agency reports.
- Starting next month, a ban is introduced on the import of right-hand drive vehicles of categories M2 and M3, which include passenger buses, minibuses and construction equipment. The procedure for importing cars with right-hand controls has been complicated - duties on equipment will be tied to age and environmental class. In addition, the owners will be obliged to obtain a technical certificate confirming the compliance of the car's design with safety requirements.
- Another innovation will be the need to legalize gas equipment, an additional trunk, a winch and a towbar only with a visit to a special laboratory. It was necessary to legalize new equipment and tuning before, but now the car will have to be submitted for a mandatory inspection, and it will no longer be possible to obtain a conclusion remotely from photographs.

Finally, adjustments have been made to the procedure for obtaining or renewing a driver's license. From July 1, drivers may be required to undergo additional laboratory tests for blood or urine tests, if the narcologist reveals appropriate signs of alcohol and drug abuse.
