Video: BMW And Daimler Suspend Joint Development Of Drones

German concerns BMW and Daimler in 2019 announced the launch of five joint projects. A year later, the companies stopped working on one of them - the creation of autonomous control systems.

- The partners planned by 2025 to make a unified platform for cars with autopilot of the third (independent operation of the system in a stable road situation) and the fourth (driving without a driver in most situations) levels of autonomy. In addition, they wanted to implement the same developments in the usual models of both concerns.
- The reason for the refusal was economic and legal problems. BMW and Daimler will now focus on their own projects with other partners.
-
The new decision does not affect other joint projects of the two German concerns. Among them are car sharing, car and bike rental, ride sharing, the development of electromobility technologies and charging station networks. In addition, BMW and Daimler do not exclude that in the future they will return to the idea of joint development of drones.
