The State Traffic Inspectorate has ceased registration of more than 460 thousand cars, which were listed for the deceased owners. This became known to "Rossiyskaya Gazeta" from the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.

  • In the spring of 2020, the police established interaction with the Federal Tax Service (FTS), which provided data on the deceased car owners. Prior to this, the traffic police was not engaged in targeted identification of cars whose owners have passed away.
  • The reason for the tightening was the accident in Moscow on Butyrskaya Street, in which a person died. It turned out that the car responsible for the accident was registered with the deceased owner, and the person who drove it all this time received more than 650 fines for traffic violations, but did not pay them, since they did not come to him.
  • According to the law, after the death of the owner, the car cannot be driven until the moment of inheritance, and the CTP policy ceases to be valid from the moment the owner of the car dies. For driving a car with a terminated registration, a fine of 800 rubles and the withdrawal of the car to an impoundment parking lot are provided.
