Video: SuperGelics: The Most Impressive Modifications For The New Mercedes-Benz G-Class

2023 Author: Natalie MacDonald | [email protected]. Last modified: 2023-11-26 13:59
You've probably already heard that Mercedes-Benz is preparing the second generation G500 4x4². In case you are not in the know, then this is the coolest, largest and most off-road G-class of all that has ever been mass-produced. It has huge ground clearance, portal bridges and a crazy factory color. It seems that after the generation change, he will not lose an ounce of hardcore! In anticipation of the most insane, but still factory novelty, we decided to recall interesting versions of the new G-class from all kinds of tuners
Brabus G V12 900
As the saying goes, the Mercedes is bad that has not been to Brabus. We're kidding, of course, it's just that this German already-completely-non-atelier with the official status of a manufacturer has projects that literally change generations along with Mercedes-Benz cars - consider the most real production models. Although they do not forget in "Brabus" and about the cars out of the ordinary - like this 900-horsepower G-Class.

Under the hood of this monster is a turbocharged V12 engine with a displacement of 6.3 liters. It is capable of developing up to 1500 Nm of torque! However, thrust is electronically limited to 1200 Nm. Well, let it be: because even in this configuration, the 2660-kg "Gelik" accelerates to 100 km / h in just 3.8 seconds! The maximum speed is 280 kilometers per hour!
But there is also a very nice technical detail here - a custom exhaust system with a talking Coming Home mode. Neighbors in the area (or rather, in the city) will be grateful.
Among the features of the mighty G V12 900, we highlight the frowning carbon fiber hood, the complex spoiler at the rear, wider arches and the complete absence of chrome in the exterior - all factory decorations were replaced with carbon fiber. There are 23- and 24-inch wheels to choose from.

Everything in the cabin, except for the Alcantara headlining, is covered in leather, including the trunk. A zero mark appeared on the steering wheel, and inside you can find a plate indicating the serial number of the car. The release of the model in Brabus was limited to only ten copies. Each of which - you just don't choke - is estimated at a minimum of 600 with a little thousand euros.
Brabus invicto
Yes, this is the Brabus project again, but this time under the recently launched Invicto sub-brand. From Latin the word translates as “unsurpassed,” and it's not just about horsepower and carbon fiber gear. This is how Brabus armored models will be called from 2020. Meet the firstborn: three bulletproof Gelendvagen at once!
All of them are united by the protection class VR6 Plus ERV. This means that off-road vehicles can withstand shots from a Kalashnikov assault rifle, with bullets with a reinforced core, and at a distance of up to 10 meters. They are also not afraid of a grenade detonation under the bottom and an explosion of something comparable to 15 kilograms of TNT, just a few meters from the car. Such "Heliks" have replaced many parts of the suspensions, there are special runflat tires and strengthened brakes, which is simply necessary taking into account the mass of cars that has increased by about a ton.

Invicto is proud to talk about its own Shelter Cell technology, which means a self-contained shielding chamber made of steel armored plates. Moreover, the introduction of this chamber does not change, for example, the dimensions of doorways, and there are no gaps between its sections. In other words, these are not just hinged armor panels on body elements. And, according to the developers, their technology is in no way inferior to factory armored vehicles.
The most, it would seem, typical Brabus is called Invicto Luxury. It is a G-Class with Brabus Widestar signature body kit and luxurious interior trim.

The Invicto Pure version, on the other hand, is notable for its atypical performance for the atelier - a kind of "inconspicuous" armored vehicle, which, in addition to wheels and thick glass, does not give itself away.

Well, the most sophisticated version is called Invicto Mission: it is addressed to special forces, rescue services and security companies. Such a G-Class, in addition, is equipped with a roof rack with additional front and rear lights, strobe lights and an electric winch.

But even this is not the most interesting: the Mission also has an armored escape hatch in the roof, the standard seats and the rear sofa have been replaced with seats with five-point seat belts, an oxygen supply system is installed in the trunk, and it also uses infrared cameras and a military navigation system.

The minimum price of an armored "Gelendvagen" from Invicto: more than 350 thousand euros.
Carlex Design G-Yachting
And here is a completely different vision of the G-Class from the Polish studio Carlex Design, which is famous for its corrosive and often unusual approach to design. The G-Yachting project is addressed to great lovers of yachting style - here literally everything is subordinated to it.
The body of the "marine" SUV is proposed to be made in a silver-gray color, and in two versions: shiny and "smooth" or with a textured metallic effect. In both cases, there will also be black matte details, and the image is complemented by 22-inch chrome wheels of a special design and a thematic engraving on the spare wheel guard.

Carlex has come up with even more unusual details for the interior. There are again two color schemes to choose from, but in both cases, everything around imitates a luxurious cabin. And, imagine, the floor and the backs of the second row seats are supposed to be covered with wood!
The yacht theme is continued by stripes on the ceiling with a distinctive coat of arms and lines on the door skins. Well, the front seats deserve a special mention, although they look a little pretentious.

Polish experts see the 585-horsepower Mercedes-AMG G 63 as the basis for G-Yachting, and without intervention in the technical part. The cost of the revisions has not been specified.
Carlex Design G Steampunk Edition
Another interesting project by the Polish studio Carlex Design is dedicated to steampunk: this trend is inspired by the Victorian era and gave rise to an art style along with a subculture.
The most unusual detail of this Gelendvagen is the roof trim, made entirely of copper and hand-engraved by Carlex Design. No wonder that the production of one stylized SUV requires over five thousand hours of work!

The design has also appeared on the spare wheel cover, and the stock discs have been replaced with 22-inch copper-colored discs. The interior uses details from rose gold and copper, rare color leather (cocoa beans of the Criollo variety) and alcantara, which also received thematic drawings. The floor of the steampunk "Gelika" is partially covered with wood.
The AMG G 63 taken as a basis has not undergone technical changes.

A total of ten copies of the G Steampunk Edition are slated for production. The cost is not disclosed, but each buyer will also receive a stylized book with a detailed description of the changes to the car, as well as a letter from the craftsmen who worked on it.
Mansory star trooper
Extravagant Mansory has released an armored version of the new G-Class, but the Star Trooper is a much more unusual project. Mansory came up with two versions of it together with the company of German fashion designer Philip Plein: a "regular" five-door SUV and … a two-door pickup! The project was timed to coincide with the 20th anniversary of the Philipp Plein fashion brand.

The corporate identity of the tuning studio, multiplied by the designer's fashion vision, gave the Gelendvagens a dark camouflage color, carbon exterior details, 24-inch wheels and an additional LED red light.

In addition, SUVs have completely changed the interior trim: there were fancy seat and door trims, as well as something like a "starry sky" from Rolls-Royce, only red.
The AMG G 63 was taken as a basis, but the output of the four-liter turbocharged V8 was increased to 850 horsepower and 1000 Nm of torque. The declared acceleration to “hundreds” is 3.5 seconds, surprising for cars with such aerodynamics.

The release of the five-door Star Trooper was limited to 20 copies, each of which was estimated at 550 thousand euros. Only seven pickups will be produced! Their cost has not been disclosed, but they are unlikely to be cheaper than the "regular" Star Trooper.
Brabus 800 Adventure XLP
For a snack - Brabus's large-scale project to transform the G-Class into a large extreme pickup truck. The 800 Adventure XLP has a wheelbase increased by 500 mm and the ground clearance is increased to 490 mm thanks to the new suspension with portal axles. The total length of the SUV has exceeded 5.3 meters.

Outside, in addition to the impressive cargo platform, attention is drawn to the electric winch, the trunk and additional light on the roof, as well as the carbon fiber hood and body kit. "Worth" the 800 Adventure XLP on 22 "forged wheels with off-road tires. The extreme machine also includes the Wingcopter drone.
The interior of a large Brabus pickup is traditionally offered to be made in accordance with the wishes of the client and using expensive leather and carbon elements.

The extreme "Gelik" is driven by a modified AMG G 63 engine. This is an 800-horsepower four-liter V8 with 1000 Nm of torque, providing acceleration to 100 km / h in 4.8 seconds. The maximum speed is limited to 210 km / h.
The initial cost of 800 Adventure XLP is almost 464 thousand euros, and the price of a pickup in the "stuffed" version of the First Edition is 685 thousand.
