Video: The Chinese Have Created A Battery For Electric Cars With A Resource Of Two Million Kilometers

The Chinese company Contemporary Amperex Technology (CATL) announced the start of preparations for mass production of a battery for electric cars with a service life of two million kilometers or 16 years. For comparison: on average, current batteries are designed for 240 thousand kilometers or 8 years.
- According to Bloomberg, the new battery type is about 10 percent more expensive than existing traction batteries for electric vehicles. CATL believes that the resource of the new development will be enough for reuse in another electric car, when the parts of the first become unusable.
- It is not yet known which electric model will be the first to receive the new battery. CATL is a supplier to many companies including BMW, Volkswagen and Toyota. The last major two-year contract was signed by the Chinese battery manufacturer in February with Tesla.
In April, the Chinese company BYD introduced a battery for electric vehicles called the Blade Battery. In demonstration tests, it has shown excellent safety, not igniting even when nails are driven into it.
