More than half of Russian drivers (54 percent) are ready to provide access to information about their car in exchange for various discounts. According to RBC, the survey was conducted by NTI Avtonet, which plans to collect such data on the Avtodata platform.
- More than 20 thousand drivers from all regions of Russia, aged 18 to 50, took part in the survey. Among those who are ready to provide data, 36% want a discount in exchange for car insurance, 29% for fuel, 12% for paid parking, 10% for toll roads, 8% for roadside assistance, and 5 % - for car service services.
- The Avtodata platform is capable of collecting more than a thousand parameters - from data on mileage and fuel consumption to information from the navigation system. To do this, the car must have special equipment that will transmit anonymized data to government agencies and private companies.
- Now NTI "Avtonet" is negotiating the implementation of "Avtodata" in cars with many car manufacturers, including AvtoVAZ, GAZ and Sollers. The date of the appearance of the platform on cars and the conditions for its use in the company has not yet been reported.
In May, the traffic police database of Russian car owners appeared on the darknet as of December 2019. 83 files with a total weight of 24 gigabytes contain information about VIN-codes, dates of the first and last registration of cars, as well as full names, addresses, passport numbers and contact details of the owners.
