In San Leandro, California, about 50 new cars were stolen from an FCA car dealership overnight. According to CBS, the raid on the car dealership was carried out in the wake of civil unrest that began across America after the death of African American George Floyd when he was detained by police.
The owner of the car dealership, Carlos Hidalgo, said that together with the employees he tried to protect his business on his own and tried to block the exits with other cars. However, the looters were able to enter the building and break into the safe with the keys. The police did not come to the call due to the employment of employees in other parts of the city, engulfed in unrest.
Eyewitnesses filmed a large-scale theft and posted it on social networks. The thieves at the exit crashed several cars standing nearby, and one car was stolen by breaking through the glass windows of the car dealership. At the exit, there was even a traffic jam from stolen cars - they stopped and made a burnout.
The looters took almost all of the most powerful cars from the dealership - the 717-horsepower Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat coupe, the Charger SRT Hellcat sedans and the Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk SUVs. The most expensive stolen piece was the Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat Widebody in the Dayton50th Anniversary special edition, which costs $ 90,995 (6.3 million rubles).
The owner of the car dealership said that all stolen vehicles have tracking trackers. Now these cars drive all over the state and Carlos Hidalgo hopes that the police can still help him get the cars back.
