In San Francisco, on Highway 101, drivers occasionally see and photograph a billboard advertising the "revolutionary new" ToyotSupra coupe. At the same time, the stand shows not a new two-door, but a fourth-generation car, which debuted in 1993. This story was sorted out by The Drive.
- Reporters contacted the regional head of Clear Channel Outdoor, which owns the billboard. Bob Schmitt said that 27 years ago, the firm moved from painting billboards to simpler, faster vinyl wrapping. Advertising with Supra was the last one made using the old technology, and the company's management decided not to spend money on painting the shield.
Therefore, now a 27-year-old advertising poster appears every time Clear Channel Outdoor employees change the film at the booth. During this time, it has been perfectly preserved. The billboard with the old advertisement will be removed only if a digital stand appears in this place.
The fourth generation ToyotSupr was produced from 1993 to 2002. The successor, based on the BMW Z4 roadster, only debuted in 2019. Now in Russia a 340-strong coupe costs 5,534,000 rubles.
