Budget VW Models May Appear In Russia. They Will Be Sold Under A New Brand

Volkswagen launched the budget sub-brand Jetta in China in 2019, which has already achieved success. As the head of the brand Harald Müller told Automotive News Europe, VW representations from other countries, including Russia, wanted to start selling affordable cars at home.

• The Jett sub-brand has been able to conquer one percent of the largest car market in the world since September 2019. This is partly due to the coronavirus pandemic, according to Mueller, with many people switching from public transport to affordable private cars.
• Now the Jett line consists of the VA3 sedan (a simplified Chinese four-door Volkswagen Jett of the previous generation), as well as the VS5 crossovers (a budget SkodKaroq modification) and VS7 (an extended version of the VS5, which is larger than the Tiguan). JettVA3 costs at least 65 800 yuan (662 thousand rubles), VS5 - 81 800 yuan (823 thousand rubles), and VS7 - 92 800 yuan (934 thousand rubles).
• There is no detailed plan for the distribution of the budget Jett brand outside of China yet. In addition to Russia, available cars of the sub-brand may appear in Asian countries, including the Philippines, Thailand and Indonesia.

Earlier it became known that Volkswagen will establish production of three new crossovers in Russia - Tarek (analogue of SkodKaroq), another compact model and an unnamed large SUV. Details about them and the date of the start of the release have not yet been announced.
