In Los Angeles, car rental companies rented parking lots in three of the largest stadiums in California's largest city to accommodate their cars. Several tens of thousands of cars have accumulated in the parking lots. This was reported by the Los Angeles Times.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, people in Los Angeles have practically stopped flying and driving around the city itself. To cut costs, car rental companies have moved their cars from very expensive airport parking lots to more accessible areas. The cars were placed at the stadiums as tightly as possible: the distance between them does not exceed a few centimeters.
- Toyota faced a similar problem. Typically, new cars are offloaded from ships arriving in Los Angeles and immediately sent to dealerships throughout Southern California. However, in the current situation, deliveries were suspended and cars occupied all parking lots in Long Beach Port.

Earlier in Hawaii, because of the coronavirus, rental companies turned the former sugarcane fields into parking for 18,000 cars. In Florida, a similar parking lot caught fire due to dry grass - as a result, in 18 hours the fire destroyed more than 3,500 rental cars.
