The Chinese concern BAIC has carried out a large-scale modernization of the Beijing BJ212 SUV. The model, created on the units of the Soviet GAZ-69, has been continuously produced since 1965, and until 2008 it was purchased by the Chinese army. This was reported by Autohome.
Beijing BJ212 increased the frame, so the length of the SUV has grown from 4070 to 4340 millimeters, and the wheelbase is now 2460 mm (was 2300 mm). Almost all of the increase went into extra space in the second row of seats. The springs gave way to the springs, a continuous axle remained at the back, and an independent suspension appeared at the front.
- The Chinese SUV has received a new hard metal roof, but in the military version it is still available with a folding fabric top. In addition, the model now has tire pressure sensors, a new three-spoke steering wheel and a dashboard with a small display.
- The BJ212 is equipped with a gasoline 1.5-liter turbo engine with 136 hp. (200 Nm), developed in conjunction with Mitsubishi Motors. The engine is paired with a five-speed "mechanics" and all-wheel drive.
- In China, sales of the upgraded Beijing BJ212 will begin shortly, but the cost of the SUV has not yet been announced. Before the update, they asked for a minimum of 77,700 yuan (800 thousand rubles).
