Video: Tesla Roadster Release Delayed For At Least Two Years

The head of Tesl, Elon Musk, spoke about the postponement of the start of production of the second-generation Roadster supercar from 2020 to 2022. He made such a statement in an interview with TV presenter Joe Rogan.

-
Elon Musk admitted that the new supercar is not among the priority projects and did not rule out that the release date would have to be postponed again. Before the start of production of the Roadster model, the company should increase the volume of production at the plant in Shanghai, open a plant in Berlin, where they will assemble the Model Y crossover, and also begin production of the Cybertruck pickup and the Semi tractor. The timing of the appearance of the latter has recently been pushed back from 2020 to 2021.
- TeslRoadster of the second generation was presented in the fall of 2017. The all-wheel drive supercar debuted with three electric motors that accelerate it to 97 km / h in 1.9 seconds. The maximum speed of the model exceeds 400 km / h. Thanks to the battery with a capacity of 250 kW ∙ h, the cruising range without recharging should be almost 1000 kilometers.
- Since the debut of the prototype, Tesla has been collecting pre-orders for the Roadster with a $ 50,000 deposit. The total cost of the supercar is $ 200,000 (14.7 million rubles). Musk has once again confirmed that the model will receive an optional SpaceX package named after the aerospace company Elon. The option includes ten miniature compressed air rocket motors to help accelerate, corner and brake.
