BMW has announced that it has entered the final driving test phase of the second generation 4 Series Coupe. The Germans also revealed some technical specifications for the M440i xDrive version, which will be located one step below the M4 and will be equipped with a soft hybrid power plant.
The M440i xDrive modification will receive a 374-horsepower in-line "turbo-six" and an 11-horsepower starter-generator to help the internal combustion engine accelerate. It is powered by a 48-volt mains supply. The power unit also includes an eight-speed "automatic". The drive is full with a front axle clutch and an electronically controlled differential at the rear.
- "Four" will be 57 millimeters lower than the soplatform sedan BMW 3 Series (1385 mm), and the center of gravity of the coupe will be lowered by 21 mm. To increase the rigidity of the body under the hood, on the bottom and at the attachment points of the suspension elements, additional amplifiers have appeared. The rear track of the model will be widened by 23 mm, and the negative camber of the front wheels will be increased for better handling.
- The drag coefficient of the coupe is 0.015 less than that of the sedan. However, for "three-ruble", this parameter changes depending on the modification. The best reading is 0.23 for the 320d version.
Following the launch of the coupe, the BMW 4 Series will include a convertible soft-top, a five-door Gran Coupe and an electric i4. When the premiere of the two-door and other modifications will take place is unknown.
