Video: Geely Will Launch Satellites Into Space To Control Drones

The Chinese concern Geely announced the creation of low-orbit satellites for the cloud-based OmniCloud system, which will be used by the brand's unmanned vehicles. With their help, the determination of the location of autonomous vehicles will improve to one centimeter.

- The first two satellites will be launched into low-earth orbit in the second half of 2020. This is done by the GeeSpace division, formed two years ago. By 2025, the Taizhou plant will produce 500 satellites annually, including for third-party companies.
- Using artificial intelligence, the OmniCloud platform will control the operation of branded online services. This will allow setting up the communication of drones with road infrastructure facilities and provide external control and maintenance of commercial vehicles, for example, from car sharing.

Earlier, the Geely concern began preparations for the serial production of flying cars created by the American startup Terrafugia. The TF-X model is in development, which will be able to fly 800 kilometers at speeds up to 320 km / h. However, she is allowed to take off only from airports. The Terrafugi series will go into production at the end of 2020.
