The Most Powerful BMW M-model Will Be A Huge Crossover

BMW recently filed with the German Patent Office to register the X8 M trademark. According to British Car, this crossover will receive a 760 hp hybrid powertrain. and 1000 Nm of torque.

Inside BMW, the X8 M crossover is called Rockstar. It should become the most powerful M model in the history of the brand. The crossover will be equipped with a 4.4 V8 engine with two turbines and an electric motor that develops about 200 forces. There is no data yet on other technical characteristics.

• According to the latest information, the BMW X8 will be a luxury version of the X7 model with a modified appearance, a four-seater cabin configuration and more expensive trim. The first to debut is the M45e modification with an in-line gasoline "turbo-six" and an electric motor.
• Serial production of the BMW X8 M45e will start in July 2022, and the M version will appear a year later. For the sake of the crossover, they even postponed the development of an ideological successor to the hybrid i8 family - two-doors based on the Vision M NEXT concept with a 660-horsepower unit.

The main rival of the BMW X8 will be a four-seater Mercedes-Maybach GLS with a 558-horsepower 4.0 V8. The first Maybach crossover was presented in November 2019, and it will go on sale in the second half of this year.
