Video: Ferrari Chasing Mafiosi Is Looking For A New Owner

The British dealership Girardo & Co put up for sale a 1962 Ferrari 250 GTE coupe, which served in the Italian police. In total, there were two compartments in service, but only one has survived to this day.

-
Both Ferrari 250 GTEs featured a roof siren, modest side decals and a police radio. The engine was standard, with a three-liter V12 making 240 hp. and accelerated the car to 230 km / h.
- The four-seater coupes entered the service of the Rome police in 1963 to take part in the pursuit of violators and the local mafia. To this end, four of the best employees have taken driving courses in Maranello. However, one car was broken up for write-off just a few weeks after receipt.
- Officer Armando Spatafor drove the remaining 250 GTE until 1968 - he became a legend among criminals, and only a few dared to get involved in pursuits with his participation. For another four years, Ferrari was used in various events, after which the car was sold.

-
The new owners kept the coupe in its original condition and in 1984 allowed Armando Spatafor to participate in the historic Coppdelle Dolomiti rally, where he finished second. This Ferrari is the only car in Italy that is allowed to drive on roads with special police signals.
- The current owner has owned a unique 250 GTE since 2015. The car has a certificate of authenticity from Ferrari, which confirms that the car is in factory condition. The cost of the car will be disclosed only to a potential buyer.
