The Most Popular Diesel Cars In Russia Are Named

In March 2020, more than 13 thousand new passenger cars with diesel engines were sold - almost a quarter more than a year earlier. In the total volume of new cars, they occupied a share of 8.1%, having added 0.1 points over the year. We have compiled a list of the 10 most popular heavy fuel vehicles.

In the top 30 most popular diesel cars, the Volkswagen Tiguan was the fastest growing. SkodKodiaq has the strongest drop: minus 71.2%.

The highest shares of diesel sales per month are in the Audi Q7 (99.5%, 405 cars), Mitsubishi Pajero Sport (97.7%, 727 units) and the BMW 6 Series Gran Turismo (90.3%, 65 units). At the end of the quarter, the leaders are the same, and only the third line with BMW is shared by Land Rover Range Rover Sport: 86.8% for both.

A noticeable increase in the popularity of diesel versions at the end of the month was recorded in the BMW 7th and 3rd series: plus 24.2 and 22.7%, respectively. Another leader is Land Rover Discovery, which lost gasoline engines on the Russian market: they accounted for less than 20% of sales.

From January to March, 30.5 thousand new diesel vehicles were registered with the traffic police, which is 18.1% more than in the same period a year earlier. The share increased by 0.1 points to 8.1%.
