Regions With The Most New Cars Identified

In the first three months of 2020, 1,580,900 new and used passenger cars were registered in Russia, which is 8.5% more than in the same period a year earlier. The share of new cars accounted for 23.8% - 1.6% more than last year. We compiled a rating of 30 regions in which the share of new cars from January to March 2020 was the largest.

The metropolitan regions are leaders in both the number and the share of new cars. Anti-record - in the Jewish Autonomous Region, where the share of new cars accounted for only 2.2% of registrations. Less than 5% of new cars are in the Kamchatka Territory (3.9%), in the Amur Region (4.5%) and in the Primorsky Territory (4.9%).

The largest share of new cars is expected to be in the Central Federal District (31%). In absolute terms, this is 130.1 thousand units, which is also a record. The second and third places are occupied by the North-Western and Volga Federal Districts: here new cars occupied 29% (44.3 thousand units) and 28% (89.8 thousand units) of the market.

In the Urals District, new cars accounted for a quarter of the market (36.5 thousand units), in the Southern Federal District - 21.5% (34.1 thousand), in the Siberian - 13% (24.1 thousand), in the North Caucasus - 12% (12 thousand pieces). The minimum share is in the Far Eastern District - only 5.3% (4.7 thousand pieces). In eastern Russia, motorists still prefer used Japanese cars to new cars.
