AvtoVAZ Has Recreated The Rally "penny"

AvtoVAZ completed the construction of a copy of the first rally car of the Volzhsky Automobile Plant, which took part in the international rally. The head of LadSport division Vladislav Nezvankin told about it.

• It took six months to create the rally VAZ-2101. It is equipped with additional headlights, a second fuel tank, sport shock absorbers, special navigator gauges, high-back seats and a roll cage. Under the hood is a 1.2-liter engine with two Weber carburettors.
• In the fall of 1971, the Tour of Europe rally-marathon was attended by three crews on "kopecks", which competed with 48 cars, among which there were five 412 "Muscovites". The route was 14 thousand kilometers long and passed through 16 countries. All three VAZ-2101 reached the finish line, one of which took second place in the overall, and in the team competition VAZ-Autoexport became the winner.
• A replica of the rally "kopeck" will be delivered at the headquarters of AvtoVAZ in Togliatti. It was created for the 50th anniversary of the start of production of the VAZ-2101. The anniversary celebration was scheduled for April 19, but AvtoVAZ President Yves Caracatzanis postponed it indefinitely due to the coronavirus pandemic.
