BMW has filed an application with the German Patent Office to register the X8 M trademark. Documents are pending approval. Reported by the Bimmer Post.
Rumors about the development of a crossover BMW X8 have been circulating since 2017, but it was not assumed that it will receive an M version. The novelty is expected to be a luxury version of the X7 with its own design of optics, grille and bumpers, as well as a four-seater saloon with more expensive trim.
- The first to debut the standard BMW X8 in a hybrid version of the M45e with an in-line gasoline "turbo-six" and an electric motor. Motor1 suggests that the X8 M is likely to receive a biturbo 4.4 V8, which develops 600-625 horsepower on the new X5 M, X6 M and M8.
