Video: Russian Car Factories Have Resumed Their Work. But Not All

Most of the automotive enterprises in Russia began to produce cars again from April 13. The conveyors started working at AvtoVAZ (both in Togliatti and Izhevsk), GAZ, UAZ and the Kaliningrad Avtotor, where BMW, Hyundai and Kia models are produced. It is reported by "TASS".
- Car production in the country was suspended on March 30 by the decree of Russian President Vladimir Putin on the introduction of non-working days. Later, to reduce the rate of spread of the coronavirus, this regime was extended until April 30, but the authorities in some regions allowed car companies to resume production of cars.
- At all enterprises that have returned to work, measures have been strengthened to protect staff from infection with the coronavirus. For example, at AvtoVAZ, employees must maintain a distance of one and a half meters - for this, special markings are applied. All staff were given reusable masks, and their temperature is measured twice a day with 500 non-contact thermometers.

Production at Nissan, Hyundai and Toyot plants in St. Petersburg, Volkswagen and PSMA (Citroen, Peugeot, Opel and Mitsubishi) in Kaluga and Renault in Moscow has not yet been resumed. Some of these businesses are facing shortages of spare parts from other countries, where factories have also been shut down due to the coronavirus pandemic.
