The G-class SUV was sold not only under the Mercedes-Benz brand, but also under the Puch brand in some countries in Europe and Africa. The rarest modification is the Puch 500 GE. Auction house RM Sotheby's will sell one of these cars in June.
In total, three copies of the Puch 500 GE were assembled in 1993. The SUV up for sale is the first in this lot. It was used for testing, certification and journalistic test drives.
- Despite a busy life and a mileage of 162,992 kilometers, the Puch 500 GE has remained in excellent condition. It is equipped with all the options available for the model in the first half of the 1990s, including power and heated front seats, a sunroof and two benches without seat belts in the trunk.
- The Puch 500 GE was the first Gelik modification with a V8 engine. A five-liter aspirated engine with a capacity of 237 hp is installed under the hood. (375 Nm). It works in tandem with a four-speed automatic transmission. After this experiment, the installation of eight-cylinder engines was suspended until 1998, before the debut of the G500.
- RM Sotheby's did not reveal the estimated cost of the Puch 500 GE. The auction house only noted that the set with Gelik comes with documents confirming its origin, as well as checks spent on the maintenance of the SUV.
