Video: "Killer" Gazelle From & Nbsp; KamAZ Will Receive A Chinese Cab
KamAZ is preparing a light commercial vehicle, which now bears the internal plant name "Compass". The Drom portal managed to find out details about the model, which will become a competitor to Gazelles.
KamAZ "Compass" will be equipped with a cab from Chinese JAC N-series trucks. Its production will be set up in Naberezhnye Chelny in a full cycle - with stamping and welding. Compass's cabin will differ from the original in a modified bumper, radiator grill and doors.
- The model will have four modifications with a total weight of 3.5 tons, 5, 8 and 12 tons. Their carrying capacity will be 1.5, 2.5, 4 and 5.7 tons, respectively. The lightest version can be controlled with category "B" rights, for the rest you will need category "C". The main competitors of the two initial modifications will be "Gazelle Next" (regular and reinforced), and heavier options will compete for buyers with "Lawn Next".
"Compasses" with a total weight of 8 and 12 tons will receive Cummins ISBe turbodiesels with a volume of 4.5 and 6.7 liters, respectively. Engines have been produced since 2006 at the Cummins-Kama joint venture in Naberezhnye Chelny. The degree of their localization already exceeds 60%. Perhaps the younger models of KamAZ will be equipped with a Chinese-made 2.8-liter Cummins ISF turbodiesel. He is also put on "Gazelle Next".
- KamAZ is also working on an experimental truck with an electric power plant and a third-level autopilot. He will be able to independently drive on the roads, but only under the constant supervision of the driver.
Last year, the general director of KamAZ, Sergey Kogogin, said that the serial production of Compass would begin in 2021–2022. However, this is not a priority project of the company and may be postponed.
