The Ulyanovsk Automobile Plant has begun accepting pre-orders for the UAZ Pickup equipped with a French-assembled six-speed automatic transmission developed jointly by Punch Powerglide and General Motors. Depending on the configuration, the "automatic" is more expensive than the "mechanics" for 99,000 - 150,000 rubles.
The automatic transmission is combined with a 2.7-liter aspirated petrol engine with 150 hp. (235 Nm). The engine received a reinforced cylinder head, modified water pump, thermostat and crankshaft, as well as other upgraded elements.
- The pickup with "automatic" is available in three trim levels. The initial Optimum version (from 1,181,000 rubles) has 16-inch stamped wheels, two airbags, headlights with LED running lights, front and rear power windows, air conditioning and audio preparation.
- The Premium equipment (from 1,333,000 rubles) features 16-inch alloy wheels, a stabilization system, cruise control, a multimedia system with a seven-inch screen, single-zone climate control, heated steering wheel and all seats.
The equipment of the top version of the Status (from 1,420,000 rubles) includes a plastic insert in the cargo compartment, leather-trimmed seats, frameless wipers and a rear-view camera. For a surcharge, front parking sensors, a rear differential lock, a pre-heater and a kung are available. With all the options, the cost of the model can increase by another 200,000 rubles.
Despite the cost, all competitors of UAZ with "automatic machines" are still more expensive. For example, an Isuzu D-Max with a 177-horsepower three-liter turbodiesel costs at least 2,445,000 rubles, and a Mitsubishi L200 with a 154-horsepower 2.4 - 2,568,000 rubles.
