Volkswagen has announced plug-in hybrid powertrains for two models, the Tiguan and Arteon. The technical characteristics of new products will be declassified later.

• For the first time, the hybrid Volkswagen Tiguan was shown in 2015 as an all-wheel drive concept with the GTE index, but this modification never went into production. In 2018, China began selling a 218-horsepower extended Tiguan L PHEV with a 1.4 turbo four, a 116-horsepower electric motor, a six-speed robot with two clutches, a 12.1 kWh traction battery and front-wheel drive.

• The Volkswagen Arteon could get a hybrid powertrain from its sister Passat. The Passat GTE sedan and station wagon are equipped with a 156-horsepower 1.4 turbo engine, a 115 hp electric motor, a six-speed "robot" and a 13 kWh battery. The total output is 218 hp, and on electric traction, the hybrids can travel up to 56 kilometers.

• The hybrid Volkswagen Tiguan and Arteon will debut during 2020 with planned restyling. In addition, the crossover will receive a coupe-like modification and a 333-horsepower R-variant, and the Arteon family will be replenished with an all-terrain station wagon and a top version with 410 horsepower.
