The State Duma adopted a law on changing the rules for compulsory technical inspection of cars. As reported by "TASS", the document exempts from maintenance cars, since the release of which has passed less than four years. Cars between the ages of 4 and 10 will have to be inspected every two years, and cars over 10 years old - annually.
- According to the previous rules, cars under three years old were exempted from passing technical inspection. Cars between the ages of 3 to 7 years had to undergo maintenance every two years, and annually - over 7 years.
- The new law applies to cars, motorcycles and commercial vehicles weighing up to 3.5 tons. The old rules will remain in place for taxis and trucks.
- The new norms must still be approved by the Federation Council. Consideration is scheduled for March 31, 2020.
The State Duma also postponed the entry into force of the law on compulsory photographing of technical inspection and on the issuance of diagnostic cards in electronic form through a single database. The new rules will take effect not on June 7, 2020, but on March 1, 2021.
