At the main AvtoVAZ plant in Togliatti, on the third line of the main conveyor, where Lad4x4 SUVs are assembled, preparations have begun for the production of the Chevrolet Niva. So far, only one body of the model has been passed through the production line, with the help of which the engineers found out if there could be any problems with the assembly.
Now Chevrolet Niv is produced at the joint venture of the domestic manufacturer and General Motors. In 2019, AvtoVAZ bought out 50 percent of the shares of the joint venture from the Americans, so this year the SUV will be renamed LadNiva. For 2021, it is planned to transfer production and restyling - the exterior of the model will be remade under the corporate X-style.
