Volkswagen's subsidiary eClassics has partnered with the brand's commercial division to unveil a kit that turns the Transporter T1 minivan (turning 70 this year) into an electric vehicle. The first to redesign the minibus in 1966 and named it e-Bulli.

  • In place of the 44 hp four-cylinder petrol boxer. (102 Nm), standing behind, installed an electric motor with 83 hp. (212 Nm). Thanks to this, the maximum speed has increased from 105 to a software limited 130 km / h.

  • The traction battery with a capacity of 45 kWh is located under the floor inside the wheelbase. The power reserve exceeds 200 kilometers. The battery can be charged from AC stations up to 22 kW and DC stations up to 50 kW. From the most powerful terminal, it takes 40 minutes to charge up to 80 percent.
  • The chassis has also been upgraded. The electric minivan has a multi-link suspension with adjustable shock absorbers at the front and rear. The steering gear became rack and pinion, and ventilated disc brakes appeared on all wheels.
  • The body of the Volkswagen e-Bulli has been completely restored. The car received LED headlights and an external charge indicator. The eight-seater interior was altered with two-tone leather, a screen appeared in the classic tidy, the old music was replaced with a modern audio system, and the gearbox lever was donated in favor of the mode selector.

Volkswagen eClassics began accepting orders to convert not only the original Transporter T1, but also the later rear-engined T2 and T3 models into electric vehicles. The price is 64,500 euros (5.4 million rubles) excluding the cost of the car. Separate kits of parts for do-it-yourself conversion will go on sale later.
