
Video: Iranians Turn Old Peugeot Into Electric Car

Iranian company Iran Khodro presented the first ever electric car RunnElectric. It is built on the basis of the serial Runna sedan, made from the Peugeot 206. The local edition Asbe-Bokhar told about the new product.

An electric motor with a capacity of 122 hp is installed on the front axle. (220 Nm), and a traction battery with a capacity of 30 kWh is located under the floor of the rear compartment and trunk. Iran Khodro RunnElecric can travel up to 220 kilometers on a single charge. All the electrical stuffing made the sedan 100 kilograms heavier.
- Iran Khodro RunnElecric is slated to begin serial production in the next two years. 9 billion riyals (10.7 million rubles) have been allocated for the project.
From 2006 to 2009, the Iran Khodro brand officially sold in Russia the Samand sedan, built on the basis of the 1987 Peugeot 405. Last year, it was planned to begin deliveries to Russia of Azerbaijani-assembled Khazar SD sedans, which are an updated version of the same Iranian sedan. However, this never happened.
Iran is the second country in the world for the cheapest gasoline. According to Global Petrol Prices, a liter of fuel costs 7.66 rubles in the country. Cheaper only in Venezuela, where a liter of gasoline costs eight kopecks.
