
Video: A Rare RAF Minibus Was Found In Chile. They Give It For The Price Of An IPhone

On the Chilean site Yapo there was an advertisement for the sale of an early RAF-977 "Latvia". A minibus, which is considered a rarity even in the post-Soviet space, is sold for 800,000 Chilean pesos (69,700 rubles). The seller offers to convert it to a truck or food truck.

A rare Soviet minibus is stored in one of the hangars of the commune of Pedro Aguirre Cerda, near the capital of Santiago. The car has not been in operation for a long time and now, being in a sad state, it is used as a warehouse for things. At the same time, all glass, headlights and other parts remained original.
- The sold RAF-977 belongs to the first series produced in Riga from 1959 to 1962 in the amount of 1297 pieces. Such a minibus differs from later versions by the front part with a split windshield and a high radiator grill, as well as small windows in the roof.
- RAF-977 "Latvia" is built on the GAZ-21 "Volga" chassis. It is equipped with a 2.5-liter gasoline engine with 70 hp, the thrust from which is transmitted to the rear wheels through a three-stage "mechanics".
