New Generation Toyota Highlander Engine Derated For Russia

The fourth generation ToyotHighlander crossover has received certification documents from Rosstandart, allowing the sale of the model on the Russian market. They contain details about the modifications that will arrive in Russia, as well as about the motor: its power for our market will be reduced.

• The naturally aspirated petrol 3.5-liter V6 for Russia has been derated from 299 to a tax-friendly 249 hp. The torque has not changed - 356 Nm. The only engine available to us is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission and four-wheel drive with a rear axle clutch.
• In Russia, the new ToyotHighlander will be 16 millimeters longer than the American version - 4966 mm versus 4950 mm. The wheelbase will not change - 2850 mm. In the United States, the crossover is offered in an eight-seater version, and in the Russian version, three rows of seats are designed for seven passengers with a 2 + 3 + 2 landing formula.
• As before, the Highlander will be supplied to Russia from the American Toyota plant. The date of the start of sales of the crossover is still unknown.

The new ToyotHighlander was unveiled at the 2019 New York Auto Show. The crossover is built on the TNGA-K platform, which was also used to create the latest generation Camry sedan. In the United States, the SUV is also offered with a hybrid power plant with a capacity of 243 hp.

Now the Highlander of the previous generation is on sale in Russia. The model is only offered with a 249-horsepower 3.5 V6. The initial cost of the crossover is 3,501,000 rubles.
