It seems that there is not a single segment of the automotive market that does not have electric cars: buses, trucks, supercars - they all learned to do without an internal combustion engine. Real SUVs do not stand out from this trend either. It turns out they can be completely electric too! We are talking about the 10 most striking representatives of this narrow (still) niche.

The Kreisel brothers, the founders of the company of the same name, are able to turn anything into an electric car - from a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter van to a SkodYeti crossover. Therefore, when the ex-governor of California (and, concurrently, the Terminator) Arnold Schwarzenegger asked them to build an electric Gelik, they gladly accepted this challenge.

The transition to electric traction increased the mass of the G-class to 3.1 tons, but gave an impressive acceleration dynamics: the "brick" spends only 5.6 seconds to accelerate to 100 kilometers per hour. The total power of the two electric motors providing permanent four-wheel drive is 483 horsepower.

Not Tesla in terms of power reserve, of course, but also not bad - about 300 kilometers. What's more, Kreisel's 150-kilowatt Mercedes charging station can replenish 80 percent of its charge in just 25 minutes. Terminator liked the car so much that later Schwartz ordered another electric car from Kreisel - this time based on some American SUV …

This one! Arnold Schwarzenegger is known both for his love of military technology and for his reverent attitude to the environment. And so the Kreisel brothers also built an electric Hummer H1 for him.

It took only two months to build the car. The Austrians equipped the SUV with two electric motors and a 100 kWh battery. The power of the "green" H1 was 490 horsepower, and the cruising range was about 300 kilometers. The maximum speed of the electric car was limited to 120 kilometers per hour.

But there is also an M47 Patton II tank in Schwarzenegger's garage. Maybe they electrify him too?

Unlike the Hummer and Gelik, the electric version of the Land Cruiser 70 was created not so much to improve the environmental situation as to make it easier for miners to work in confined spaces.

The unusual pickup was built by Voltr for the mining company BHP. Its purpose is to deliver tools to uneven mines. Because both four-wheel drive and downshift are important in these conditions, Voltr has kept both.

The power of the electric motors, as well as the capacity of the batteries, are not named, and the machine itself has the status of a prototype, since its components have not been finally approved. However, BHP has already stated that the electric truck has performed well. Therefore, purchasing a few more Land Cruisers from Voltr is a matter of time.

The company Electric GT is about the same as Kreisel - it takes cars with internal combustion engines and turns them into electric cars. In addition, the American company sells electric motors out of the box, just like Ford Racing, for example, or Mopar do.

The most high-profile projects of the Electric GT were the Ferrari 308 GTS and the ToyotLand Cruiser FJ40. The firm created the last car in cooperation with Vintage Air, a company that produces air conditioners for classic cars. The result is … well, a typical Land Cruiser. But very, very quiet.

The car retains the original all-wheel drive system and a three-speed manual transmission. Under the hood is the GTe-253 electric motor, which develops 155 horsepower and 331 Nm of torque. Thanks to a Tesl battery pack with a capacity of 36 kWh, the SUV can travel up to 150 kilometers on a single charge.

But if the characteristics of the electric Land Cruiser from the Electric GT do not differ much from the original, then the Bronco from Zero Labs is the son of my mother's friend against the background of the basic SUV. Not only was the car converted to electricity, it was also modified elsewhere!

The pumped-up Bronco has carbon fiber body panels, independent suspension with adjustable Fox dampers, Brembo brakes, and a modern interior with an advanced multimedia system. But the main innovation, of course, was the electric power plant, the total power of which is 600 horsepower. That's almost five times the original Bronco. The power reserve, thanks to batteries with a capacity of 70 kWh, is 300 kilometers.

Zero Labs plans to build 150 of these machines. Prices start at $ 189,000. For a surcharge, you can customize the interior or put an air suspension.

Jeep may unveil a production battery-powered Wrangler this year, even though the concept that heralded such a model is 12 years old! But if you can't stand it anymore, then welcome to South Korea! Electric Wranglers have already been built there.

The cars deprived of the internal combustion engine were created by the CAD4X research laboratory. The purpose of the experiment was to find out how effective the electric power plant will be in real off-road conditions. To do this, the Jeeps were equipped with electric motors with a torque of 285 Nm, Kokam batteries (60 kWh), as well as a complete off-road package: toothy tires, double shock absorbers, power bumpers, a winch … The results of the experiment pleased: the cars confidently crawled over boulders and forced deep fords …

Alas, since machines were created in the name of science, they cannot be purchased. However, no one will forbid you to try to negotiate with the Koreans at least for a test drive.

With electric Defenders, the situation is simpler. Firstly, the Dutch company Plower is already engaged in their creation: you bring the first generation car to their workshop, leave it for several months, and then take a quiet Def with 160 forces, 300 Nm of thrust and a power reserve of 260 kilometers.

Secondly, it is possible that the second generation SUV will become electric already on the assembly line. Moreover, Land Rover tried on a fully electric power plant on the Defender back in 2013. Then the all-terrain vehicle was equipped with an electric motor with a capacity of 95 horsepower and a torque of 330 Nm. Since the battery had a small capacity (27 kWh), the range of the prototypes was not enough even for 100 kilometers. However, for an experimental machine, more is not needed.

Bollinger SUVs have been talked about for years, but things are still there: the company only collects pre-orders and rolls out a new prototype once a year. Fans of electric cars, of course, know how to wait - thanks to Elon Musk. So Bollinger customers are still waiting.

What are they waiting for? An SUV with a power reserve of 300 kilometers, acceleration to 100 kilometers per hour in 4.5 seconds, the ability to quickly recharge, adjustable ground clearance, as well as quick-release panels that make it easy to customize the car. Prices bite - 125 thousand US dollars. But this SUV is much more like a real one, which means it will be able to drive much further than TeslModel X. At least off-road.

And this is a model from Rivian, which should go into series in the coming months. For money comparable to the B1, it not only offers a luxurious interior with an advanced multimedia system, but also outstanding technical characteristics.

Four electric motors on each wheel provide the Rivian with 750 horsepower and acceleration to 100 kilometers per hour in a little over 3 seconds. The estimated range of 640 kilometers, at first glance, looks too optimistic, but given the huge capacity of the batteries (180 kWh), the R1S can really turn out to be very "hardy".

In addition, Rivian claims that the SUV is capable of towing trailers weighing up to 3.5 tons and overcome fords up to 90 centimeters deep. It remains to wait for consumer tests, which will prove all this (or disprove). Well, he already knows how to turn like a tank, on the spot!

A sudden replenishment in the ranks of off-road electric cars, which became possible thanks to the Czech company MW Motors.

In the homeland of Franz Kafka and Alfonso Mucha, the UAZ Hunter not only acquired a fully electric power plant, but also became "right-handed": MW Spartan (this is how the paradigm-shifting Hunter is called) was made with an eye to Great Britain. And in the future, the electro-Hunter should enter other markets - Japan, South Africa and those countries where they drive on the other side of the road.

The assembly of these machines will be established in the Czech Republic. They can be distinguished from ordinary Hunters only by the absence of exhaust pipes and by the content of the engine compartment, where the electric motor has settled. The capacity of Spartan rechargeable batteries will be from 56 to 90 kWh.
