The Russian Ministry of Justice will revise the size of fines for traffic violations, which will be included in the new Code of Administrative Offenses (CAO). Deputy of the Ministry of Justice Denis Novak told RIA " about this.
- The draft of the new Code of Administrative Offenses was published in January. According to the document, fines for traffic violations should have grown significantly: for example, for speeding by 20-40 km / h, they were offered a fine of 3,000 rubles instead of 500 rubles. In addition, a punishment for dangerous driving in the amount of 5,000 rubles appeared in the Administrative Code.
- Such a drastic increase in traffic fines has drawn criticism. Earlier, Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin said that the proposed level of punishment would be unbearable for drivers. According to him, people's wages are not growing as fast as the size of the fines.
Denis Novak emphasized that the proposals for a sharp increase in the fines of the Ministry of Internal Affairs were prepared in order to reduce the death rate on the roads. He noted that this problem should be addressed in a comprehensive manner - through the development of infrastructure, approval of requirements for road cameras and the development of a simplified procedure for appealing fines.
- There is no information on the timing of the revision and revision of the draft of the new Administrative Code. Initially, the document was supposed to enter into force on January 1, 2021.
