Avto.ru together with the AskMarket agency conducted a survey of Yekaterinburg residents who came to one of the three largest traffic police departments to deregister or register cars. We asked how they sold the car and where they were looking for a replacement. About 700 people took part in the survey.
Where new cars are bought most often
Nine out of ten respondents answered that they are familiar with Avto.ru. More than half of them use the site not only to sell their car, but also to buy another - new or used.
Approximately 27% of survey participants came to the traffic police to register a new car. Priorities also changed depending on the age of the owners: more than 70% of motorists under 40 bought used cars, and people over 45 bought new ones.
According to the survey results, Avto.ru turned out to be the most popular classification for search new cars: it is used twice as often as other sites. Offline car dealerships are still the most common search channel: buyers are attracted by the opportunity to talk to the manager, look at the selected car and negotiate a discount orts in the form of options and accessories.
Where are used cars most often bought?
Almost three quarters of the respondents were buyers of used cars. They searched on Automotive News and found a used car with 45% of them. Often used cars are bought from friends or relatives - this option was chosen by every fourth respondent.
Users prefer Avto.ru for its popularity and a large database of ads. Among the advantages of Auto.ru, respondents named the presence of a mobile application, as well as a convenient interface.
Where cars are most often sold
The most popular way to sell a car is classifieds: more than half of the respondents use them. The trade-in service is also gaining popularity - it was practiced by every fifth car owner. Men prefer trade-in almost three times more often than women: 74% versus 26%. The respondents of the older generation also choose trade-in more often: only 9% of respondents under the age of 35 have resorted to this method of selling, and among sellers over 35 they are already almost a third (29% of respondents). Only 15% of the respondents sold a car to their acquaintances or relatives.
In Yekaterinburg, cars are sold three times more often through Avto.ru than on other classifications. Sellers choose Auto.ru for the same reasons as buyers: it is convenient, popular, familiar - such answers were given by half of the respondents.
More than 60% of those who came to register a recently purchased car said that they had not sold the previous one yet.
