At the American Bring Trailer auction there was an advertisement for the sale of a rare Italdesign Aztec roadster produced in 1988. Its main feature is two separate cabins with removable glass roof parts for the driver and passenger. The auction rate at the time of publication was only $ 36,250 (2.3 million rubles).
And this is very little - after all, the roadster was created by the famous designer Giorgetto Giugiaro in honor of the 20th anniversary of the Italian studio Italdesign. The model was presented at the Turin Motor Show in 1988, after which it went on sale. It was planned to sell 50 copies, but in the end, only 18 cars were produced.
- In addition to the unusual cabins, the roadster has three-button controls located at the rear wheels. By dialing a special code, you can, for example, open doors, check tire pressures or raise the vehicle on hydraulic jacks.
- In the cabin, in front of the passenger seat, there is a handle stylized as a steering wheel, as well as a trip computer used in rally cars. The list of equipment includes climate control and the coolest audio system for the late 1980s - with a CD player, cassette deck and equalizer.
- Italdesign Aztec is equipped with a 2.2-liter five-cylinder Audi turbo engine producing 250 hp. and a five-speed manual transmission. And all-wheel drive, which is borrowed from the iconic hatchback LanciDeltIntegrale.
The roadster put up for auction traveled only 414 kilometers. The seller assures that the car is in perfect and fully factory condition.
