Video: Russian Drivers Receive A Record Number Of Fines

-
As Izvestia reports with reference to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the number of fines issued for traffic violations in 2019 increased by 14,300,000 compared to 2018. This is primarily due to the sharp increase in the number of traffic cameras.
- Most often, drivers were caught for speeding, non-compliance with road signs or markings, driving at a red traffic light, unfastened seat belts and riding motorcycles without a helmet. The largest number of fines was issued in Moscow, the Moscow Region, the Sverdlovsk Region, Tatarstan and the Krasnodar Territory.
- The average fine was 828 rubles. The amount of fines owed by Russian drivers in 2019 reached 29 billion rubles. 19 billion of them were paid at the beginning of February.
Now the draft of a new Administrative Code is being discussed, in which fines for traffic violations will increase several times. For example, for speeding by 20-40 km / h you will have to pay 3000 rubles instead of 500. There will also be a penalty of 5000 rubles for dangerous driving. It is planned that the innovations will enter into force on January 1, 2021.
