Video: What Cars Do Russians Dream About?

The Russian market of new cars in the past few years cannot be looked at without tears: model lines are shrinking, once strong brands are curtailing sales, and following the fall in real income, the tastes of Russians are forced to change. The place of modern C-class models was quickly taken by Korean state employees, and from sedans and minivans we are massively transplanted to crossovers of all stripes. But we haven't stopped dreaming yet? Or how?
To find out the most desirable cars of Russians, we interviewed residents of eight large cities: Moscow, St. Petersburg, Vladivostok, Yekaterinburg, Krasnodar, Nizhny Novgorod, Novosibirsk and Samara. I wonder what they answered?
What cars do car enthusiasts dream of?
Every fifth respondent (20%) Russians see Japanese Toyota in their dreams. The most coveted models were the Land Cruiser 200 and Prado. Almost half the number of respondents (11%) dreamed of a premium Mercedes-Benz brand, and Gelendvagen turned out to be the most Mercedes. The three leaders are closed by the Japanese premium Lexus (6%).
Two more representatives of the German troika - Audi and BMW - managed to reach Mercedes-Benz only together (4 and 7%, respectively). Audi's favorites are the Q7, Q8 and RS6, while BMW's are the X5 and X6.

For 1% of the respondents - apparently tired of traffic jams - a helicopter, an airplane and even a spaceship are seen as ideal transport! Car enthusiasts who have not decided on a specific make and model of a car most often mentioned European and American cars.
The most loyal fans of their own cars, again, were the owners of Toyota: almost half of the owners said they dream of another Toyota. In addition, 10% of respondents who own cars from the premium segment would have moved to Toyota.
Dreams about luxury cars only every tenth… The leaders are Porsche and Rolls-Royce: 31% and 21% of respondents want them. Bugatti, Ferrari and Lamborghini won another 10% of the votes each.
The most popular cars in different cities
Only in three cities out of eight do motorists dream not of Toyota: in Moscow and Krasnodar, Mercedes-Benz takes the first place, and in St. Petersburg - BMW. In all other regions, Toyot surpassed all other brands, including the most luxurious, by a significant margin.

Japanese Toyot are preferred in Vladivostok: the proximity to Japan and the high popularity of the brand as a whole (including on the secondary market) have an effect. The second place belongs to Lexus: 13% of respondents in this region dream of a premium "Japanese".
