There are many ways to individualize the car: you can stick the "three X" on the windshield, cover the body with gold film, cut a couple of coils of springs, fork out for a set of "Vossenov" or a full-fledged tuning kit from Mansory … Well, if all of the above is already there, then I want to add a "cherry" in the form of a "beautiful" number. From 2021, Russians will be able to buy numbers with a special combination of letters and numbers through the State Services portal, and we decided to see how things are going with this in other countries.

You can get a number with your favorite combination of letters and numbers in many countries. Somewhere this procedure is official and transparent, but somewhere it is a matter of chance and the presence of links with the relevant authorities. We will not consider the last option, but we will tell you about how things are on the "bright side".

Ukraine

Our neighbors have been selling special license plates to everyone for a long time. To do this, Ukrainians just need to fill out an application in one of the offices that manufacture numbers, and then appear with new plates and a letter of authorization (which is also drawn up by the office-manufacturer) to the local department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. There, the owner of the new dies will be reissued the technical passport - they will add nameplates to it.

On the one hand, everything is simple and straightforward - such numbers can even be transferred to other cars in the future. But there is one weighty "but": a personalized number is considered a duplicate and is valid only in the country. Therefore, if the car leaves Ukraine, the owner will have to establish the state number plates with which the car is registered.

A registered Ukrainian number can contain from three to eight characters - it is allowed to use numbers, spaces, as well as Latin and Cyrillic letters. It is not allowed to imitate real state numbers, that is, use the AA 1234 AA format - and geographic identifiers at the beginning (like AX for the Kharkiv region). It is also forbidden to write obscene words on the numbers. The cheapest option with three symbols will cost 2400 hryvnia (6100 rubles), for each additional symbol you will have to pay another 300 hryvnia (760 rubles). The whole procedure - from registering an application to setting numbers on a legal basis - takes an average of a month.

But if you want a beautiful state-issued number - AA 7777 AA format - then be kind enough to knock on the doorsteps of offices or look for a car with the right combination on the secondary. There is no legal way to get the desired numbers from Ukrainian drivers yet.

Germany

For pedantic Germans with "beautiful" numbers, everything is somewhat more complicated - if only for the reason that some numerical combinations are assigned to various services and departments, and the letter combinations reflect the belonging of the car to the city of registration. Nevertheless, having paid 10 euros and 20 eurocents (700 rubles), the car owner can slightly correct the number so that it becomes more interesting.

For example, the owner of a car from the city of Pirna can order the number "PIR AT77". The first three letters, which are responsible for geographic origin, he cannot change - they will certainly look like PIR - and then there is a certain freedom. So why not turn your swallow into a pirate ship?

Due to the geography of the letter codes, BMW registers some Mini from the German press parks in Minden - then it is possible to get numbers “MI NI….”. But it will not be possible to release the entire personalized number in Germany. More precisely, you can do it, but you can't ride with it on public roads - just show off somewhere at themed events.

Czech Republic

In the Czech Republic, it is possible to buy unique numbers from 2017. However, there are a number of rules that limit the flight of imagination of motorists. First, the unique number must contain eight characters, grouped according to the 3 + 5 principle - when it comes to cars. This prescription serves to ensure that the police immediately see the owner of non-standard signs: ordinary license plates in the Czech Republic contain 7 characters (3 + 4). For motorcycles, the exclusive must be a seven-character number (2 + 5) instead of the traditional six-character number (2 + 4).

It is forbidden to use the symbols G, O, Q and W in the numbers, write obscenities and insults. Moreover, such a number must contain at least one digit. If these conditions suit, then all the Czech car enthusiast has to do is pay for the service. 5 thousand Czech crowns (13,600 rubles) will be asked for a motorcycle license plate, and a pair of cars costs twice as much - 10 thousand crowns (27,240 rubles).

Great Britain

Registration and issuance of license plates in the UK is carried out by a separate government agency called the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA). You can also order unique license plates for a car from her, and their content is limited only by the framework of decency (no swearing and insults) and the size of the car owner's wallet.

For those who do not make millions of pounds, there are three beautiful number patterns: AB12 ABC, A1 ABC and ABC 123, where ABC are letters that can be replaced with any Latin letters, and 123 are replaceable numbers. Since the UK license plate uses the Charles Wright 2001 font, which has fives like Ss, ones like I, and zeros like O, you can create some pretty interesting combinations.

DVL has been selling exclusive rooms since 1989. Now the prices for a set are on average from 250 to 700 pounds sterling (from 20,300 to 57,000 rubles).
