Toyota Hydrogen Sedan Has Changed The Generation And Type Of Drive

Toyot has unveiled the second generation Mirai hydrogen sedan. The novelty exactly repeats the prototype shown at the Tokyo Motor Show in October 2019.

• The first generation ToyotMirai sedan was front-wheel drive, and its successor switched to the TNGA-N rear-wheel drive platform. The length of the Mirai has increased by 85 mm (up to 4975 mm), the width - by 70 mm (up to 1885 mm), and the wheelbase - by 140 mm (up to 2920 mm). The height, on the contrary, has decreased by 65 mm (to 1470 mm).
• The interior of the new ToyotMirai seats five people, not four as before. The sedan's equipment includes a digital instrument panel, a 14-speaker JBL audio system, a 12.3-inch multimedia system and wireless charging for smartphones.
• Three hydrogen storage tanks have also been enlarged. Thanks to this, as well as the new electrochemical generator, the passport power reserve increased by 30 percent - up to 845 kilometers. According to the creators, now Mirai responds to the gas pedal more linearly and better controlled.
• Detailed information about the powertrain of the second ToyotMirai is not yet available. The predecessor was equipped with a 154 horsepower electric motor.

ToyotMirai will go on sale at the end of 2020. As before, the hydrogen model will be offered in Japan, Europe and North America.
