Video: Mercedes-Benz Invented A Car Inspired By Avatar
Mercedes-Benz has unveiled the Vision AVTR autonomous concept sedan at the CES 2020 International Consumer Electronics Show. It has a streamlined four-seater body, transparent doorways, a heart rate monitor and an electrical installation.
Vision AVTR - or Advanced Vehicle Transformation - does not claim to be a production model. At the same time, it hints at a number of technical and design solutions that the German brand may apply in the future. The main message of AVTR is the connection between man, machine and the environment, so the intersection with the idea of the picture "Avatar" by James Cameron is no coincidence.
In addition to the reference in the name AVTR, the body and interior of the concept are reminiscent of the homes and sleeping hammocks of the fantastic inhabitants of the planet Pandora from the movie "Avatar".
- As conceived by the designers, the concept is able to "breathe": a block of 33 flaps is mounted in the rear part, which open and close automatically. And the pulsating illumination in a circle enhances the effect of a living organism.
- A number of interior elements are made from natural recycled materials. Among them are the Dinamic microfiber and the Karoon tree, obtained from the roots.
- The Vision AVTR is controlled by a central controller that is capable of reading the pulse. And the T-shaped front panel is entirely devoted to the multimedia screen.
- The powerplant of the concept is both powerful and clean: the Vision AVTR develops 476 horsepower (350 kW), and the 110-kilowatt organic battery pack does not contain rare earth materials, so its production and processing is less harmful to the environment.
The concept has a maximum range of 700 kilometers.
