We admired the speed test videos of the Bloodhound LSR, which is set to set a world land speed record next year. And at the same time, we watched the premieres of these 10 cars, without which 2019 would not be so memorable.

Perhaps in a global sense, the premiere of the new Volkswagen Golf is a more significant event, but for Russia it is the Octavi that is one of the main novelties of 2019. Because technically it's the same Golf, but more spacious, more practical, and most importantly - cheaper!

In terms of size, the new Octavi almost caught up with the older Superb, and in terms of equipment it is not far behind it: here is the latest multimedia system with a 10-inch screen, and three-zone climate control, and curtains on the rear windows, and fully LED optics … the new Octavias will be "mild" hybrids - apart from those equipped with manual transmissions. In addition to the "handle", for the new items will be available six- and seven-speed "robots" DSG with shift-by-wire technology.

As far as engines are concerned, the Octavi is actually itself - there is the dominance of in-line "fours". Moreover, one and a half liter TSI can run on both gasoline and methane. I would like to believe that such a version of Octavia will reach Russia, although at the moment there is no understanding of when the new product will come to us and in what versions. But that the new Octavia is very much awaited, no one doubts.

The premiere of the new Supra was delayed and postponed several times. At some point, it seemed that Toyot was just being bullied and no one would ever see Supra. But in January, the sports coupe was officially presented and immediately after that became one of the most talked about cars of the year. And, judging by the SEMA exhibition, it is also one of the most tunable.

Of course, the purists did not like the fact that the sonorous name went to the car, which is assembled in Austria from BMW components. But we managed to ride the SuprA90, and we can say that the Japanese and the Bavarians have a very, very interesting car. Albeit with a number of questions, the answers to which we tried to give in our test.

The current ToyotSupr is equipped with two engine options - an inline-four B48 with a volume of 2.0 liters, and a three-liter “six” B58. However, the four-cylinder variant is only available in Japan and Western Europe. In most countries (including ours), the coupe is offered only in the flagship version with a 340-horsepower engine.

It is no coincidence that Volkswagen named its electric hatchback ID.3 - the number hints that this is the third truly important model in the history of the German brand (after the Beetle and Golf). Volkswagen has high hopes for the new product and hopes that ID.3 will help whitewash the company's name after the diesel gate story.

But so far the picture does not look very rosy. The first ID.3s are due to be handed over to customers in the summer of 2020, but there is a possibility that plans may change. The fact is that Volkswagen faced big software problems in the first batch of ID.3, numbering 10 thousand copies. And they can be solved exclusively manually by connecting to each machine via a wired connection. Agree - not the best start for the most important Volkswagen car in modern history.

But Volkswagen representatives are calm - everything is under control. And those customers who paid 40 thousand euros for ID.3 in the 1st welcome version will receive their cars on time. Later, sales of ordinary cars will begin, prices for which start at 30 thousand euros. For this money, the hatchback will be equipped with one 150 kW electric motor and a battery that will last for 330 kilometers.

Land Rover does not seem to have any problems with electronics on the new Defender.Although it could have been - after all, the new generation of the cult SUV is ahead of even the Range Rover in terms of the number of computers! Defender carries on board the EV2.0 electronic platform, which consists of 85 control units, and its processing power is enough to process up to 21,000 operations per second. Probably, if you want, you can play games or render 8K video in Defender.

The efforts of all electrical systems are aimed at improving the off-road capabilities of machines. Because the British simply cannot disgrace themselves with such a name. Defender moved to the D7x platform - with a monocoque body, double wishbones in the front and multi-link in the rear - but, as the engineers assure, has not lost its talent for tackling the harshest terrain. It can force fords up to 90 centimeters deep and tow trailers weighing up to 3.5 tons.

The line of power units consists of four- and six-cylinder engines. The most powerful for today is a "mild hybrid" with a capacity of 400 forces, equipped with a three-liter inline "six". But soon a plug-in hybrid should also appear in the lineup, which will have 4 more horsepower.

The new Def will get to Russia next year. And our off-road will definitely not be a walk in the park for him.

The new Chevrolet Corvette is the Xiaomi of the supercar world: it can do everything that top Ferrari, Porsche and Lamborghini can do, but for less money. That is why the first batch of 40 thousand new generation Stingrays has already been sold out. Although production only starts in February 2020.

The new Chevrolet was built according to the precepts of the "Father of Corvettes" Zora Arkus-Duntov, who always saw the model as a full-fledged competitor to European sports cars. C8 received a mid-engine layout, which should help it not only become more prestigious "in civilian life", but also more efficient in motorsport, in particular - in endurance racing.

So far, the C8 Stingray only comes with a 6.2-liter naturally aspirated V8, but other engines will soon be joining it. Tuning workshops have already expressed no less interest in the new product than ordinary buyers - Hennessey promises to build a 1200 horsepower biturbo C8, which will accelerate to 400 kilometers per hour.

At the moment, the novelty is available in three specifications, and the base, Taycan 4S, has two versions - the regular and Performance Battery Plus. The simplest Taycan accelerates to a hundred in 4 seconds, can reach 250 kilometers per hour of maximum speed and travel 333 kilometers on a single charge on a WLTP cycle.The only serious drawback of the first electric car from Porsche is the price: the base Taycan 4S costs from 7 793 000 rubles.

The company plans to build 125 copies of Jesko, deliveries to customers will begin in 2021 - the company is currently testing the model and assembling already ordered copies of the Regera. The price, by modern hypercar standards, is quite humane - $ 3 million (excluding taxes).

Well, so that Aston Martin does not once again find itself on the verge of bankruptcy, the British stepped on their own principles and rolled out the first crossover, which was named DBX.

By far, this is one of the most beautiful sports SUVs that the modern market has to offer. In it, as in other Aston Martin models, Mercedes-Benz components are used: a 4-liter V8 with double supercharging, a nine-speed "automatic", an all-wheel drive system - all this is German. But the platform has its own, which, for example, can not boast of neither Bentley Bentayga, nor Lamborghini Urus, nor Porsche Cayenne.

It is planned to produce at least 5 thousand DBX annually, sales will start in the summer of 2020. Hopefully, the DBX does not play a cruel joke with Aston Martin, as the Levante crossover did with Maserati.
